Gordon Parks - Groundbreaking American Photographer
- Born on November 30, 1912 in Fort Scott, Kansas. Died on March 7, 2006 in New York City.
- Married to Genevieve Young, Elizabeth Campbell, and then Sally Alvis. Had 3 children, Gordon Parks Jr, Toni Parks-Parsons, and David Leslie.
- Won Anisfield-Wolf Book Award, National Medal of Arts, and Spingam Medal
- First African American to work as a staff photographer for Life magazine, and the first African American to direct a major Hollywood film, "The Learning Tree" and "Shaft".
