There are two men and the ends of this picture that are cut out, so they didn't avoid a merge.

Balance
The big tower stands tall in the middle while the two smaller ones on the sides are there to balance out the picture.
Lines

The four flag poles great a series of lines, three are straight up while the other kind of slants. The slanted one creates an disproportional look to the picture.
Rules of Third
This picture focuses the car on the bottom right, following the thirds rule and showing that the main subject is the car.

Unusual and Interesting Photos
PART 1
1. All of these pictures have a theme and the similar structure, but they're interesting to look at.
2. I think he took a picture of it but pasted them multiple times and put them at different angles and lightening it up, making it fade. Then he combined them to create a slightly different version of the actual picture.
3. The first building that comes to mind is the Frost Bank that's right there in downtown Austin. Or even the capital downtown.

PART 2
1. I chose this picture because I really love the game of basketball and the setting is beautiful. The picture is rich in color and contrast.
2. Sport Action
3. Honorable Mention
4. The photographer captured the players in the middle of an intense game with a layup shot. The sunset with the clouds in the background adds onto the mood of the picture and the giant ship in the back has the lights on that glow that blend in with the sunset and the glistening players uniform.
5. The judges probably viewed the picture as a whole, examining how it all ties into one. Not only did the players poses and action shot stand out, but the mood and setting was something hard to achieve, but this photographer has the perfect view and timing for this picture to happen.
6. This is a unique photo how the background has nothing much to do with basketball, yet it all ties into together to create a very attractive photo. The colors and quality stand out so much. He had to find a way to balance out the colors.
PART 3
1. Suggestions:
- creating a memory in our heads the instant we see one of his paintings. There are some books that have less story than this image. Do that with a photograph and you will have succeeded
- A good skill to have as a photographer is to look at things from different angles to get the best shot. Do not let an awkward angle deter you from your inspiration.
- window light is the best light for portraits.
2.
3.
The author has the same set up with the potion of the people. But, there are two men sitting instead of a cop and little boy. The idea and story is different because you can't tell whats really going on in the second picture as the first tells a story just by the details.
4. Paintings that influence me are paintings that include unique textures and colors. Different and colorful pieces of art stand out to me compared to self portraits of someone sitting and posing.

Photo Manipulation and Ethics
A. Photographers use photoshop and other editing softwares to tweak their photos. Their editing adds on a false impression to the viewers because they are not viewing the truth. Many of these people got fired for publishing these photos as they conveyed a whole different perspective of the situation.
B. I believe this is very unacceptable because its basically lying to all of its viewers. They change the meaning and to create "perfection" or to gain "sympathy".

I chose this as unethical because Saddam and Bush debating would create a huge controversy and it would really confuse people. This is a serious situation so they shouldn't provide false information about issues like this.
This is ethical because theres nothing wrong with a little editing to make a picture look better. If anything, it made the picture more appealing and it didn't hurt or confuse people in the making.
National Geographic
I really like this picture because it resembles a calm moment that many experience. You get this view from just sitting in a car or something but I really love how both views are shown, split in half. I also love the calmness inside the train and the fast pace movement of the outside.
I would submit a picture of the waves in the ocean during the sunset on a beach. The beach is my getaway and there's no other place thats more relaxing for me than the beach and it would be a beautiful scenery photo.

Touching People
1. I think that this is a very interesting project. Its definitely something new and different that I've never heard of, and its a unique and creative way of art.
2. Honestly, if a complete stranger were to approach me with a camera, I wouldn't want him to take a picture of me. I don't like being in front of the camera as much as others so it would definitely put me in an awkward situation, ESPECIALLY if they want me to touch a complete stranger.
3. I would find it interesting to be able to go out and have a photoshoot of people making a blank and emotionless face because its hard not to smile and keep a straight face in front of a camera.
4. The photos are definitely interesting. In some, you can sense the awkwardness that the people feel. Many of the pictures also have two contradicting people that look like completely opposite people. But they're entertaining to look at and watch their expressions.

This picture stood out to me because you can clearly see the old man's connection to the tank. Its not just a tank to him, but it holds a great deal of memories and feelings. The photographer took this picture while the man was having a special moment, propping his cane on the tank and adding flowers on top of the tank, which creates a more sentimental effect. This is a very powerful picture overall, showing the viewer the impact that this piece of history has on the man.

This picture reminds me of my two older sisters and I. What really stood out to me is how the current pose in the first picture becomes the picture in the frame in the second one after one of the three ladies passes away. It shows a true bond ever since they were young. The picture takes place in the exact sam kitchen table. This is a very touching picture as it tells a story of friendship and love.

After reading the caption, this picture gave me the chills. A dedicated dog to its owner has so much meaning to it. The dog lays right beside his owner that has passed away. Its clear that this dog was truly a "man's best friend" and he was lucky to have that bond with his dog. Having the cross and a fresh burial site creates a beautiful picture and the dog guards his owner as he rests in peace.

Good and Bad Photo
These are the two pictures that I took of Alexandra. The first one is the one the one I like because its a nice and clear shot and the lighting is on point, even though she's not looking at the camera. The second picture is my least favorite because the quality doesn't seem as good as it could be. There's a good focus on the camera for both pictures, one just has better lighting quality than the other.
