Extra Credit Final

1. A man was pushed onto the tracks and was hit by the on coming subway. The photographer didn't have enough time to physically save the man from getting hit, but he attempted to stop the subway by flashing his camera at it, at the same time taking a picture.
2. He tried to warn the subway that something was wrong with the flash of his camera.
3. I believe that he honestly tried to save the man's life, so yes.
4. He could have ran towards the scene to cause more attention, but then again nobody knows how much time he had and how far he was from the actual scene.
5. I disagree because I feel like its disrespectful for the family of this man, they basically published this man's death all over magazines.
6. I believe that a photographer can only do so much, just as any other human being. While its important that we have photos of bizarre moments, its also important that we try and look out and help others in need.
7. Most of the time, yes. They are there to capture the moment and should understand what's going on before exposing photos with false information and assumptions.
8. No, sometimes its good to just educate and help people understand and see whats going on out in the world. But its good to try and avoid bad events.
9. That its 50/50, many don't know the full story but what he did was reasonable. However, posting this photo to the public is wrong.

Final Review

1.

Cindy stands near the coffin that lays her brother's body in her hometown in Austin, Texas on a breezy evening where the funeral will take place. Earlier that week, Cindy's brother, Chris, was shot and killed while defending his country in war.

The remains of a roller coaster in a theme park lays under the Atlantic Ocean with only the top half of the roller coaster visible after Hurricane Sandy arrived. The destruction caused scarred many with the disastrous aftermath of this hurricane.

Lytro Warm Up & Ethics in Fashion Photography

1. Whenever I clicked on the photo, the focus point would change to the part I clicked.
2. The camera has to be able to focus on all different areas at one moment/capture.
3. They would need to understand how to use the camera and its settings and the prefocus, how to take a picture manually and use all the different functions.
4. I believe that if you have a passion for photography, then its worth the money.

VIDEO:
1. EVERYTHING. Her eyes were enlarged, neck elongated, lips plumped, face thinned, etc.
2. I don't agree with it, advertisements like these only create profits for the company by lying to the public and destroy self esteems of ordinary people.
3. If they were trying to change a picture in order to change a story, then it would be ethically wrong.
4. I believe enhances to a photo are okay, but turning someone into someone they're not and portraying false ideas are bad.
5. Fashion photography is used to create pretty photos to look at that would help advertise their products, while photo journalism photography is used to tell stories.
6. The public sees both of these types of photography. Sometimes one will impact the thoughts of publicity more than others, but either way they give false photos that don't show complete reality.

Self Portrait Part I and II

1.

  • Have fun with it. Be sexy. Be yourself. Be awesome. Be different. Be creative. Whatever you do, have fun with it. That’s part of the point, after all.
  •  Seek balance between subject and environment. Include enough of the setting to aid your image, but not so much that the subject is lost in it.
  • You don't want them to appear aware of the camera.
2.
I really like this photo because it has a great scenery background. I personally love nature and adventures and this picture captures a great moment that should be one to remember.

This photo has a humorous feel to it as there is a giraffe somewhat posing in the back. Although the guy eating is the main subject, the giraffe take a lot of that attention away.

3.
This photo also has humor in it as this man uses a giant old fashioned camera to take a picture of himself.

This is a very interesting one to me as its unique and abstract looking. It definitely caught my eye.

4.
I adore this picture of this mom and her child, it makes me happy looking at them.

This is a very casual photo that has a nice and calm background. The color adds to the calmness of it all.

5. For my portrait assignment, I'm not exactly sure of who I want to take photos of, but I would want to take photos outside with a grassy background where the person is enjoying nature. It will be a posed shot but the person won't be looking at the camera. They will be enjoying themselves and it would be at a nice angle where you can see a clear sky.
